Les studied biochemistry at Oxford University and after qualifying as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG Peat Marwick McLintock in 1987, he joined Credit Industrial et Commerciel et UEI, where for three years, he was head of accounts in the London branch of the French Bank.

Prior to joining Advent, Les was Managing Director of Bermuda International Investment Management (Europe), a wholly owned subsidiary of The Bank of Bermuda Limited. As chief executive of this IMRO registered company, which provided investment management and advisory services to offshore private clients, he was also responsible for the European finance function in the Bank of Bermuda Group for nine years.

At Advent, Les is responsible for all financial and administrative functions of the group, is currently serving as a member of the BVCA Legal and Technical Committee and the EVCA Venture Capital Council.
