How We Work

Your business plan is the most important document to use in communicating with us. We like a business plan that sets out clearly and succinctly your vision for your business with a concise summary. The plan should cover, where appropriate: the technology and why it can be the core of a successful business; the market that it addresses; how you intend to approach this market; who the team are; how you will operate and some financial data. This should indicate how the business has been financed, what your assumptions are about fundraising and how that will be spent. Financial forecasts as appropriate are helpful too but please bear in mind that these will be challenged.

It helps to have an introduction to Advent through someone we know but this is not essential.

We operate in a very collegial way and, if we decide to look carefully at your business, you will meet several members of the Advent team in the course of due diligence. We can move swiftly when necessary and we try to be flexible and approachable. We generally like to take a Board seat on companies in which we invest.
